Danielle Colby is an American model, actress, and celebrity makeup artist. She has appeared on the MTV reality television series Catfish. Danielle began dancing competitively at age 5, appearing with her parents in several dance recitals around Southern California. Her mother Nancy played the piano and the cello while her father John went on to play for 15 years on the Jazz Corral Band in San Diego, California. Her mother quit music after Danielle's birth to pursue a career as a teacher, but she started playing again when Danielle was around 10 years old. Her father played as a hobby, as well as to accompany his wife. He also studied music composition and taught both his children to play the piano at an early age. Danielle's great-grandmother was a pianist who began studying at the Paris Conservatory at age 12, but her interest in the piano was cut short when she married Danielle's grandfather, who didn't approve of her continuing with her musical studies. As a result, she never had any formal training and was self-taught throughout her life. Danielle began modeling for print advertisements when she won an award for "Catfish Cover of the Week" at age 17. From that point on, her modeling career took off. She also started dancing competitively again at age 21, appearing in commercials and music videos. She was a fan favorite of "So You Think You Can Dance", where she was the only contestant to be asked back for an encore. Danielle starred in her own reality show called Danielle's World on MTV where she went through the process of choosing a profession and what direction to take her life in.
